Twitter

Twitter is one (the most popular one) of the new microblogger services. Microblogging is essentially telling people what you are doing in . To begin with, I was less than convinced by its use or importance, but as time goes by, its starting to make sense to me. The power is in its immediacy. When Michael jackson died, I was on twitter and you can see the speculation and conversations going on until someone twittered “its been confirmed” with a link to the BBC.

The power really though is in the applications that are being built. I’ve put a list at the bottom of the page with the cool or useful applications that you should check out.

Can you advertise your jobs on twitter? – yes you can. here are a few I’ve found.

Twitter for Recruitment

Strategy

  • You should at least have one Twitter account for your company.
  • If you only have one, use it for company news and snippets.
  • Use  a second one for  jobs. If you post them manually you will find it pretty tedious, so automate where possible.
  • You may want to create multiple accounts for different jobs, regions etc
  • ideally you need to be able to update them automatically. The more you have the more important this is.
  • Remember that Twitter is immediate, so you need to constantly update things for them to get out.
  • Try and register something that is consistent with your brand (and you don’t have many characters to play with)
  • Include #job or #jobs and #hiring in each post
  • worth including include #yourbrand too
