Build Your Online Brand
A short few years ago this was an unheard expression, but now your Online Brand increasingly important. You need to be able to control and build your online brand. and you need to ensure its consistently presented wherever people come across it. There are some obvious steps if you are starting off, and depending on your organisation’s name, can be easy or hard!
- I assume you already have your brand domain registered – right? If not do it (although its probably too late)
- You may want to consider registering variations eg: .net, .co.uk, .mobi, if you dont already have them
- Now you can start to register your “brand” on social sites. This is important in 2 ways.
- It stops anyone else using it.
- It gives you a chance to build your consistent brand.
- So where? At this moment and as a minimum, I’d suggest LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and myspace. You may have your favourites too, and you may do them as you come across them.
- From a personal brand point of view, you can combine links to all your social sites here on retagrr
- Don’t forget to record the login’s and passwords somewhere - you will need them – and you will forget them
- Logo or Image. Its a good idea to keep tabs on your image too. There’s a useful tool called Gravatar that allows you to define your image (or multiple ones) centrally, so you can use it across numerous sites. for example, mine is here
