Bogus Candidates?

October 28th, 2009 0 Comments

Are some recruiters pretending to be candidates just to get the inside information on a job or client?

We think they are!

The Social Life of Health Information

October 22nd, 2009 0 Comments

“American’s pursuit of health takes place within a widening network of both online and offline sources”

This report from PEW Internet looks interesting..

61% of Americans look online for health information.

I’ve not read it all yet, but that will be this evening’s task :-)

Novartis Oncology using video to recruit

October 20th, 2009 0 Comments

Novartis Oncology have launched a great recruitment campaign using employee video testimonials as the focus.

Its called the Open Employee Generation campaign:

Year after year, companies try to attract top talent with want ads and job descriptions that show off the company, but don’t explain why talent should want the job.  Which is why, with hundreds of positions to fill in 2009, Novartis Oncology is overhauling its strategy for attracting and hiring top talent by letting its employees tell job applicants exactly why they enjoy coming to work for the leading oncology company every day.

This innovative approach is based on the simple concept that employees are the best and most authentic channel for communicating the value of a work environment.  Job seekers are invited to view video testimonials, available on Novartis Oncology’s global careers site, which were created as part of a global campaign that asked Novartis Oncology employees to share and celebrate the unique stories taking shape at Oncology locations around the world.

The Open Employee Generation campaign succeeds not only in providing valuable stories for the external community.  It also unites Novartis Oncology’s global community around one common goal: helping cancer patients live longer, better lives.

Nice work Novartis – I wonder if they are on YouTube too?

SideWiki? – Hmmmmn Interesting

October 16th, 2009 0 Comments

Here are the basics:

  • It’s a gadget that comes with the latest release of Google toolbar
  • It allows people (who have a Google account) to post a comment in a browser window alongside a (any) page on your website that you cannot moderate or delete.  The comments appear instantly (you can ‘report abuse’ to Google)
  • Other people with sidewiki gadget enabled can view and make their own contribution to the wiki entry
  • Unless you have the gadget active on your toolbar then you cannot even see these entries

I’ll have a play and report back! – In the meantime I’m off to play bass in a Caribbean / Reggae band!

Setting up a Facebook group

October 8th, 2009 0 Comments

Facebook Groups are increasingly popular, and rightly so. With nearly 300 million Facebook users, there’s no reason why you shoudn’t have one for your organisation / company / brand.

Alison Driscol has put together a nice step by step guide of how to create and manage your own group here: http://mashable.com/2009/10/07/facebook-groups/
